Project Manager

Job Objectives:

Take charge of an up-and-coming commercial tower as the Project Manager. You will be the key person to ensuring the project is delivered on time, with quality and within budget.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Propose a master project schedule with key milestones and monitor the construction progress making sure the project is completed within the approved timeline.
  • Coordinate with potential clients on meeting schedule, taking minutes and following up as required
  • Meet with clients to understand their design requirements and assess its feasibility by liaising with relevant consultants
  • Continuously manage project budget by comparing the running cost against milestones to ensure project is completed within pre-approved budget.
  • Continuously identify possible value engineering and cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality standards
  • Collaborate and uphold strong relationship with consultants to ensure designs meet our design intent, is accurate and complete
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to determine needed resources, negotiate and resolve issues, change orders, variation orders and dispute in a timely and efficient manner
  • Review and approve, shop drawings, method statement and submittals submitted by the contractors and suppliers
  • Collaborate with legal team to secure all project permits and other compliance matters
  • Monitor the performance of consultants to ensure they deliver as per agreed scope of works and budget
  • Oversea the procurement strategy for consultants including design brief, tender documents, timeline and scope of works and deliverables contract period and payment schedule; prepare evaluation and recommendation report for approval.
  • Oversea the enforcement health and safety protocols and standards; regularly execute safety inspections; mitigate construction risks to avoid accidents, injuries, and legal liabilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • At least 5 – 8 years experience in similar role
  • Have experience in delivering commercial buildings
  • FIDIC knowledge preferred but not essential
  • Ability to make sound decisions through project cycle to ensure the design and construction align with the best practices, industry standards, regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop project master schedule with identifying the critical path activities, and proactively address potential delays to ensure that the project is progressing per the approved timeline.
  • Ability to monitor project budgets to ensure the successful financial execution of construction projects, identify cost-saving opportunities to maintain financial viability, and prevent budget overruns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to manage construction contracts based on a solid understanding of legal aspects, obligations, and liabilities and FIDIC, including contract negotiation to ensure the project complies with legal requirements
  • Ability to anticipate potential obstacles, mitigate risk, and devise backup strategies to ensure operational excellence.
  • Ability to implement quality control processes and conduct inspections to ensure projects meet quality standards.
  • Good Knowledge of know-how and manage the building design and construction processes, including architectural, structural, landscape, material selection, usage and application and testing.
  • Good Knowledge of various local regulatory requirements for design and construction
  • Good knowledge of project management, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, quality control, design, testing & commissioning.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, use of materials, sequence of works, construction technologies and software, etc
  • Ability to lead and motivate project team; providing clear direction, allocate responsibilities effectively, create environment that encourage teamwork and professional growth.
  • Ability to clearly communicate project objectives, updates, and progress with stakeholders
